GrayAudra4126bAudra Gray, PhD., is an assistant professor of Literacy and Multicultural Education at East Tennessee State University. Her research interests include characterizing culturally responsive teaching practices; examining classroom discourse and the role of African American cultural communication in learning broadly, and student literacy development specifically; and the study of effective university and field-based experiences that shift teacher practices around concerns for cultural responsiveness and equity. She received her M.Ed. in Educational Psychology and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Washington, Seattle. Also, Audra is a former 5th grade teacher in the Compton (CA) Unified School District and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
